Boba Break-Even shows how many cups you need to sell to cover the cost of running a boba shop.
Break-even is your fixed costs divided by your margin per cup. Margin is the price of a cup minus what the ingredients cost. If a cup sells for five dollars and the ingredients cost one dollar and twenty cents, each cup puts three dollars and eighty cents toward rent, labor, and equipment. Divide your daily fixed costs by that number and you get the cups you need.
Calculator tab. Use the plus and minus buttons to set your fixed costs per day, your price per cup, and your ingredient cost per cup. The big blue number is how many cups break even, and the glass fills to the dashed line that marks it.
Play the week tab. Set your costs and open the shop for seven days. Each day brings random weather that changes how many people show up. Drag the slider to pick your price, then open for the day. Cheaper cups sell more but earn less each, and a higher price earns more per cup but sells fewer. When the milk tea rises past the dashed line you covered that day. Finish the week with money left over and you win.
The fastest way to lower the cups you need is to widen the gap between price and ingredient cost, since that gap is what each cup contributes.
